There are various ways to meet single guys other than just through online dating. One of them is in a bar setting. It is not necessarily a  “pick up” place. There are many men that go there because they don’t have another way to meet women or are just there for a drink with the guys.

If you suddenly catch his attention and you find him attractive, don’t stare him down or look the other way. If you stare at him, you take the chance of intimidating him.  Looking the other way and not giving him any signals that you are interested will pretty much diminish any chances of his approaching you even if you are the hottest gal in the bar.

So, what do you do when a guy looks your way in a bar? The best way to get him to approach you would be for you to look at him and smile. Then,  just act naturally and see what transpires. Yes, I know, easier said than done. That is why I am here and you are at the bar biting off your acrylics!

Seriously, guys need a signal to advance ahead unless they are just so bold that they don’t consider your intentions. I am sure that you have experienced that type already.  Fortuantely for us, most guys will not be that forceful and will respect your space.

Bars that are in established restaurants can be a wonderful way to meet a more quality type of guy.  He might just be having a coctail before dinner. Also, a lot of guys that are on business will sit at a bar to have dinner rather than utilizing a table.

Many times, a guy will send over a drink for you as an introduction. Don’t feel offended. If you don’t feel comfortable with this approach, you can either refuse it politely or reciprocate. Some women get mad and defensive when they get a drink from a guy and feel he has bad intentions.

Going to bars as a way to meet guys is simply one way to accomplish this. It is better to mix it up a bit and give yourself a variety of methods that will increase your odds.  Stay with it, you will eventually meet  that special someone!

For many of us single working females,  some  of our dates are planned for a time directly after work.  So, how can we dress appropriately for work and still look sexy and appealing for our date?

Usually the first date is fairly casual. That being said, you still want to look attractive for that first meeting since it is important to impress if you want to make it to a second date.

Men love beautiful eyes and and a lovely smile. Make sure that you have accentuated your eyes with a little eye liner and soft shadow.  Looking natural is important since most guys want us beautiful but not overdone. You may have seen in dating profiles the typical statement, ” I want a girl who can go from formal to a basebal cap and jeans. I am looking for someone who looks like the girl next door”.  Meaning they want it all, which of course is highly unlikely!

Secondly, try to wear an outfit which accentuates your best features. If you are on the heavier side, this means not wearing spandex or tight fitting clothes.  You have no idea how many dates that I have been on where guys have shared stories about women showing up who were overweight and under dressed or wrongly dressed for their body type.

One of the keys to a successful first meet is being appropriately attired. If you are not sure, take a friend with you to the store or to look at your wardrobe to aide you in your selection for your date.

If you are meeting for drinks after work, wearing slacks with a nice top and accessorizing it with jewelry can work great. I really love nice costume pieces that are not overpowering to compliment an outfit.  Keep the focus on your face and not your body or clothing, so don’t overdo it!

There are really great summer fashions out now that are fairly inexpensive in discount stores such as Target and Ross. I love Target’s handbag collection and accessories for the summer.

If you chose to wear a dress, wear one that is not too “officey” and would transition to an appropriate night time dress. Banana Republic, Anne Taylor and Chicos have nice selections this year!

If you are going to expose your legs, make sure they are tanned or have at least a hint of color. Most men love a woman’s legs and you can use one of the many new spray tans out on the market if you are not a sun worshiper.

It can be tough to juggle working, kids, and dating. Simply don’t over plan the first date. It should be natural and relaxing!  Show your confidence and guys will love that about you!

There is a rule of dating  of which I am an avid follower and recommend this to all my friends and readers. Dating someone who is newly divorced is normally heading down a treacherous path,  if you are genuinely looking for a long term relationship. When he tells you that he is newly single, remind yourself  that you are not in the market for a rebound relationship!

When a guy is fresh out of a marriage, he has quite possibly been in a monogamous relationship for years. Imagine a guy that has been only with one woman for over 20 years and you will understand that he is ripe for a little adventure.

He starts feeling the freedom after separation but when the divorce is finalized, he is really free to fly! If you are the unfortunate one to soothe his wounds during this period, you may be soon searching for someone to do the same for you.

Divorce is a magic button for a guy. It unlocks a myriad of visual fantasies that he may have been suppressing and some he may want to act upon. He very possibly had an unfulfilling marriage on an intimate level and he can now try out his new found sexual freedom.

He will probably tell you that he is a one woman man and probably under the right circumstances this would be true. Believe me when I tell you that probably 90% of men are not ready for a long term relationship immediately following a long term marriage.

Not only is there the sudden itch he has to be enjoying his singledom, but also the ex wife and kids to factor in.  In many cases, the ex wife is not very cooperative immediately following a breakup and the kids are just adjusting to the separation from their father or in some cases their mother.

Adding all these elements into the scenario is a pretty ominous situation.  Red flags and bells should be sounding in your head when you hear the words , “just divorced” or “newly separated”.  Falling into that rebound trap can lead to more pain and disappointment than you can imagine!

Leave the guy to have fun for at least a year after his divorce before venturing out into his world. If he is still available and interested in you, then, and only then should you sample his offerings.

When meeting someone from internet dating, sometimes there are big surprises in store. What if you are not attracted to your date when you lay eyes on him? Listening to someone’s voice and seeing photos, sometimes old ones, is not the same as a face to face meet!

Have you ever met someone for the first time expecting fireworks and given off ice cubes?? It happens more often than not.
Why? Photos may be old or not clear. Personalities and mannerisms are different in person than on the phone. He might have less hair than his pics or suddenly gained 20 pounds!  It happens to everyone that dates long enough online.

Unless your date is rude or disrespectful, at least spend a few minutes chatting with him. If you feel it would be wasting his time, then be honest and explain that there just isn’t sufficient chemistry to continue.

Normally, singles will suffer through the date and simply hope that in the end they have spent enough time not appearing rude. Does that sound familiar? The casual glance at your watch. Or, the visit to the bathroom to see if any other suitors have attempted to contact you?

If  you make it through the date and he still appears interested, the polite way to handle it is to send an email thanking him for a great evening and explain that “even though you had a great time, there is not enough chemistry”.

Being rude or discourteous just because there are no sparks is not necessary. Just try and put yourself in the other person’s shoes!

Dating has changed incredibly in the past 10 years. With  dating services becoming increasingly popular, singles are dating outside of their immediate are and even selecting partners from other states and countries.

Singles used to be limited to dating people they worked with or friends of friends or even worse yet, people they met in bars.  They could go for months or even years without a date or relationship.

It is much easier today to be able to turn on the computer and click into a profile that attracts your attention to find a date or potential relationship.

Dating someone long distance has also become easier thanks to cheaper and more available flights. There are many singles choosing to try their luck at dating out of their own geographic area.

How this will all work out and if it is really worth it will depend on if both parties are really committed to the relationship and can handle distance. If you are dating someone over 60 miles, patience and commitment are essential to sustaining a long distance relationship.

Being able to work out a schedule that will fit in visits on a frequent basis is also imporant and sometimes difficult to achieve. People normally have busy work schedules often compounded by children.

Before you get your heart to involved in the relationship, take time to really think about the commitment necessary to make it work! Get to know the person you are interested in through regular phone contact. Especially, if you live in another state and travel requires airline travel.

Once you have made the decision that you are ready to meet, keep an open mind but do so without blinders. Phone conversations, text and instant messages and emails are great, but do not really tell you the entire story. You must meet and spend time with someone.

It is really important to also get to know family and friends of your new love. This will help you get to know about his routine, character and if you would be comfortable in his or her social circle.

After the initial meeting or extended visit, if it goes well and the sparks are still there, take a few days to think about the visit. See if you would be comfortable traveling to see your partner. It can become difficult to take trips on an ongoing basis.  Also, your partner could tire of it as well.

A relationship is not made from one visit. This is hard for people to understand when their hearts are involved.  Keep your head on until you have really gotten to know your partner and are sure the intentions are honest and actions consistent.

If both parties are really serious about the relationship, then long distance dating can work and perhaps turn into a long term dating success!

If you decide that your partner is not working out for you, the worst thing is just to fade out. It may seem like the “kind” thing to do, but it can have lasting negative and painful consequences.

Another method of a dating breakup that is very popular is to tell someone that you are confused or just not sure what you want. This is used hoping to soften a breakup. This not only just prolongs the breakup but is hurtful and confusing for the person who is waiting for your decision.

Unless your partner is a confrontational or intimidating person, it is always advisable to sit down and explain that things are not working out. There is no reason to explain every detail or trait that might annoy you about your partner. However, honesty will be more kind to him or her as they start the repair their broken heart.

Fading out or just not calling someone again has become a popular way to rid oneself of someone who may not be a “perfect match”. At least a candid phone call to explain that it didn’t work out is necessary in order that there is not false hope or confusion as to what went wrong with the relationship.

Texting and emailing  a goodbye message have also become a breakup method of choice. This is a very insensitive and cowardly way to relieve someone of a person they no longer wish to date or deal with.  Again, there is a nicer and more ethical way to handle a breakup.

If you have invested months of your time and your partner’s in a relationship then take the time and effort to do the right thing when saying goodbye. Actions have consequences and one never realizes how insensitive ones can impact someone’s life.  In essence, DO the Right thing!

One night stands are exactly what the term implies.. One night! Normally, there is not much more that results from them, especially when finding sex in a bar or club.

Women do have needs as much as men, for different reasons normally. Women sometimes just want to feel a guy’s arms around them and some tenderness. There are those women though who have high libidos and they need sex.

Men normally think of a one night stand as a sexual release. He does it and feels great again for a few days or week, depending on his sexual drive.
I have a girl friend who feels there is nothing wrong with it. She has not met a boy friend that she clicks with so occasionally resorts to one night stands to release tension and get a little TLC. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Men can do it and there is no negative judgement normally from others. I think that we are all humans and a one night stand is the same for both sexes!!

There could be so many reasons why your dating life has come to a grinding halt.  Lack of desire, not enough time to focus, bad attitude or the economy could quite possibly be contributing to the dismal social life you may be encountering.

There are ways to spice it up a bit. First, do an analysis of why you are not getting any offers. Have you changed your habits, job or location of residence? If those are the same, think about how you come across. Has your attitude changed in the past few months due to past dating experiences or stress in your life. Those factors are often transparent.

If still not seeing any red flags in those areas, are you on a dating site or muliple dating sites? Are you finding those pretty much lack luster as well?? There could be several reasons for that as well.

If you have been on the online dating circuit for a long time then, your face is not fresh. You might want to change your photo and profile a bit. Also, maybe you should try a new dating site. There are so many free dating services that is won’t be a problem.

If you are a female looking for a date, the economy could be a factor in the less than enthusiastic responses you have been recently getting. Guys are losing their jobs too. They may not have the money or real desire presently to be searching for a partner.

Best not to take it too personally. Simply try to change your routine a bit and see if the results improve!
